Fifteen Things That It Took Me Over 50 Years To Learn

Well, I have 20 more years to go to reach the big five-o, but I couldn't resist sharing this one with you all... I've got it from a fellow BookCrosser...

1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a
laxative on the same night.

2. If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human
race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that
word would be 'meetings.'

3. There is a very fine line between 'hobby' and 'mental illness.'

4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost
never want you to share yours with them.

5. You should not confuse your career with your life. (amen)!

6. Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

7. Never lick a steak knife.

8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.

9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and
compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.

10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely
suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people
to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age,
gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

13. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to the waiter, is not a
nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

14. Your friends love you anyway.

15. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone
amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

Why does this dark season make me so tired...

The sun goes up at 8am and down at 4pm.... and it's very grey weather in between.... I need light therapy... I'm sleepy all the time...
Any good suggestions for me?

Got my first wild catch at BookCrossing today....

... it sure made me jump from my chair shouting out loud.... it seems too as the catcher has become a new member of BookCrossing as well.... that's really fun... this means it's worthwhile releasing in this spot...

The Collection

**** OK... I Know that some Americans might take offence.... but I had to blog this story I received today from a friend****

A lobbyist, on his way home from work in Washington, D.C., came to a dead halt in traffic and thought to himself, "Wow, this seems worse than usual."

He noticed a police officer walking between the lines of stopped cars, so he rolled down his window and asked, "Officer, what's the holdup?"

The officer replied, "The President is depressed, so he stopped his motorcade and is threatening to douse himself in gasoline and set himself on fire. He says no one believes his stories about why we went to war in Iraq, or the connection between Saddam and al-Qa'ida, or that his tax cuts will help anyone except his wealthy friends; the press called him on the lie about Iraq trying to buy uranium from Niger, and now Campbell Brown is threatening to sue him for a sexual innuendo he made at a recent press conference. So we're taking up a collection for him."

The lobbyist asks, "How much have you got so far?"

The officer replies, "About 14 gallons, but a lot of folks are still siphoning."

Family Weekend

I am currently spending the weekend with my family, everybody is here except my sister-in-law... she had to stay in England and work.... My brother is here though for a quick visit.

We have spent the evening watching Johnny English, it was a good laugh for sure....

Consider this: What is to prefer..... make your own mistakes or take the consequences of others???

Currently reading - update

I have taken a break from The Dice Man.
I am David I finished last night..... I can strongly recommend it! It's juvenile fiction really but to follow David while he runs to safety and discovers himself and his fellow humans is so beautiful.

Another book I am reading is Jarlens Sekel by Dick Harrison. This very thick book is about the Swedish 13th century..... very promising so far.

Currently reading

The Dice Man by Luke Rhineheart and I am David by Anne Holm.

The Dice Man is a book I find almost revolting... I can only read a few pages and then I have to do something else. Dr Rhineheart is a psychoanalyst that chooses to live his life by the Dices desicions.... The consequenses of this is rape and lot's of other up-side down things....
How can you ever leave the responsibility for your actions to two dices???

I am David is quite different, a young boy called David has lived his whole life in a concentration camp, he gets the opportunity to run away...
The reader gets to follow David as he discovers life.

How do you talk?

I have been thinking lately about communication?

How do you communicate the best way in order to not create confusions and conflicts? To talk around things or to be straightforward? A female friend of mine needs very straightforward communication to understand... She has a lot of pain and gets easily stressed out. I know that that makes her to cut off most things around her and thus I need to tell her exactly what I mean - and eye-to-eye...
It is very frustrating from time to time... and somehow I've got the feeling that this is the way men communicate... am I wrong?

Still I know I need to practise on this kind of communication... I usually tend to talk around things...

So at last I've decided to become a Blogger, not that my hours at the internet are long enough already *smiles*

This is all very new to me and I guess it will take some time until I've found out what this space in the cyberspace will be used for.... Still this is exciting...

The possibilities are only limited by my creativity!!!

Since most of my contacts are English speaking I have chosen to use this language, I hope that is alright with my Swedish friends...
